Crucible Consulting is a full-service training provider located in Northern Nevada. We specialize in individual and team based firearms and tactics curriculum, with access to a wide variety of training facilities in our area. Crucible Consulting is also available to provide services on-site nationwide.

We provide comprehensive training solutions for individuals, corporate, and agency clients. Our staff has extensive experience teaching and training this material however, more importantly, in its practical application. Our solutions are contemporary in concept, while being firmly vetted through experienced based evaluation.  We are uniquely positioned to provide solutions that are being applied daily, by our staff and others who place themselves in harm’s way. This ensures the information we are providing is consistently evaluated for its effectiveness and relevancy to the mission at hand.

Clients can expect customized training solutions to address their specific needs. We understand the great diversity of mission types and the ineffective nature of blanket solutions. Our staff is dedicated to developing solutions to provide effective tactics, liability mitigation, and increased student retention.

Our adult based learning model enables us to provide students with a positive learning environment encouraging participation. Together we have accrued thousands of hours of instruction time with students of widely varied abilities. We have developed curriculum that is accessible to all levels of experience and is flexible enough to ensure positive return on investment for all.

Instructors
Daniel Bales

Daniel Bales

Daniel has been in law enforcement for over 14 years working for a large Metropolitan Sheriff’s Office. During this time he has worked a variety of different assignments to include: Detention, Courts, Patrol, S.W.A.T. and is currently the agency’s Rangemaster.

Daniel has numerous firearms and tactics certifications, to include: handgun, shotgun, carbine, less lethal, force on force, low light tactics, as well as basic and advanced S.W.A.T. schools and Shoot House Instructor.

Daniel is also a certified armorer for Glock, Colt, Sig Sauer, Remington, Springfield, and 1911’s.

During Daniel’s time on the agency’s S.W.A.T. he has been a sniper, entry team assistant team leader and is currently a team leader for the containment team. Daniel has been one of the primary training coordinators for the team and is an instructor in multiple team disciplines.

As the only full time agency Rangemaster Daniel has accrued thousands of hours of range instruction time and teaches everyone from new academy recruits to experienced veterans. Daniel has also accrued a significant amount of instruction time in the private sector.

Jim Davis

Jim Davis

Jim has been working in public safety for over 13 years. He has worked the past six years in a large Metropolitan Sheriff’s Office. During this time he has worked a variety of different assignments including: Detention, Transport, Training and Compliance, and Patrol.

Jim holds related certifications including: FBI Range Instructor, Force on Force Instructor, Vehicle CQB Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Field Training Officer, Instructor Development, Glock & Sig Sauer Armorer, Shoot House Instructor, National Registered Emergency Medical Technician I-99.

Jim is one of the primary Range instructors for his agency accruing thousands of hours of range instruction time teaching all levels of proficiency.

Jim regularly instructs multiple topics at the Northern Nevada Law Enforcement Academy in Reno, the Nevada P.O.S.T. Academy in Carson City, and within his Sheriff’s Office.

Prior to working in the Law Enforcement field, James served multiple communities as a pre-hospital medical provider with numerous Emergency Medical Services and Search and Rescue agencies. While attending university, James responded to the April 16th 2007 Virginia Tech massacre as a medical provider.

Tim Braginton

Tim Braginton

Tim has been in the public service sector for over 10 years. During his time in law enforcement he has worked a variety of different assignments to include: Detention, Courts, Patrol, Hostage Negotiations, and S.W.A.T.

As a S.W.A.T. Operator, Tim is assigned to the containment team and is a sniper.

As an agency range instructor Tim has accrued over a thousand of hours of range instruction time and teaches everyone from new academy recruits to experienced veterans. Tim has also accrued a significant amount of instruction time in the private sector.

Tim holds related certifications including: FBI Range Instructor, Force on Force Instructor, Vehicle CQB Instructor, FBI Hostage Negotiator, S.W.A.T. Sniper, Defensive tactics instructor, Field Training Officer, Interview and Interrogations, and Shoot House Instructor.

Tim regularly instructs multiple topics at the Northern Nevada Law Enforcement Academy in Reno and the Nevada P.O.S.T. Academy in Carson City.

Tim is a certified armorer for Glock, Smith and Wesson.
